What are Powerisers?
They can best be described as 'spring loaded jumping boots' or 'jumping stilts' - some people call them 'bionic boots' for short. Allowing you to jump up to 2 metres in the air, it's like having a trampoline under you wherever you go! While your friends are still playing at ground level, you will be able to jump in 6 ft leaps over them - imagine that!
Buying Advice for Powerisers
1. Be careful when buying your powerisers, make sure you are buying the real deal, why? because in many of the inferior models/copies there have been reports of the springs quickly losing their strength. Put simply, you get what you pay for. There are already a number of illegal imported, low quality products on the market. We recommend all customers check this before buying. 2. Make sure you get the poweriser appropriate to your weight, this way you'll get maximum benefit and fun out of them. 3. Powerisers are great fun when used correctly, but can be dangerous if not used appropriately. Be aware you use them at your own risk, so please be careful. Always wear full protective gear and manufacturers advice before getting started. In fact we're offering all Poweriser customers discounts on protection deliberately to encourage safety.
Learning how to Use Powerisers?
STEP 1: Standing Up and Walking with Help Probably the first and most difficult step. Once you managed this, the rest should come easier. At the start you'll need help to balance. Don't try to stand on your own directly as it's likely you'll fall. It's best to start off by sitting on a chair or low wall with a helper to pull you up. See the video below for details on how to do it on your own:
STEP 2: Beginning to Walk without Help Once up on your feet with Powerisers, within a short time you'll probably feel confident enough to walk by yourself. At this stage make sure you have a helper nearby just in case, as you'll not be used to the feeling of being on powerisers initially. Make sure when walking that your feet are pointing as straight forward as possible, this avoids the springs will get caught up in each other. Also make sure you don't lift your knees too high up as this can cause you to fall.
When making your first steps, start by holding onto somebody and walk. With practice and in time you should find yourself needing to rely on your helper for balance less and less until being ready to let go entirely. Do make sure to keep your helper stays next to you just in case.
STEP 3: Running on your Powerisers Once walking without help you should quickly get the hang of running, but BE CAREFUL to keep your balance as you go faster. To learn to how run the best technique is to walk faster and faster until you're eased gently into running without too much effort. TIP: In order to increase the length of each stride, relax your legs and allow the springs to the work, this will feel strange at first. Also make sure you lift your legs to avoid catching the powerisers on uneven ground.
STEP 4: Jumping
This is where Powerisers really begin to get fun! Before long you'll now be running around and jumping all overthe place!
For jumping there's 2 ways:
1. One-Footed Jumps: Just like running, instead of aiming your movement forwards, instead aim upwards, this will shift the velocity at which you want to move. Try standing in 1 place and alter your jumping from your left leg and then to your right. TIP: To get the maximum momentum, step off as hard as you can when you are at the lowest point.
2. Two-Footed Jumps: Getting the balance right for 2-footed jumps is much harder, largely due to the increased spring resistance, so BE CAREFUL. This is considered the best of the jump techniques as it's with this technique you can jump HUGE heights in the air with your Powerisers. Start by standing still for a second and then press downwards as you bend your legs slightly, keep practicing this without going into the air until you're confident you can do this without losing your balance. Once you feel you can do this without losing balance, try pressing harder, so you begin to jump higher.
STEP 5: Getting up after a fall
This will hopefully not be necessary, but if you do fall, the easiest way to get up is to grab hold of some type of support to pull yourself up. To stand without support, spread your legs so that you have one in front of you and one behind you, pretty much like when you do the splits. Take a look at the YouTube video in Step 1 above to see how it's done.
