An adjustable ski boot for children, which is supposedly the first of its kind, is being officially launched this ski season, first in the US and then in more countries. The new IDEA ‘6-in-1 Kids Adjustable Ski Boot’ has been manufactured by a firm based in Italy.
The product is claimed to have received ‘a tremendous response’ in Europe. This development is significant because adjustable Roller Skates and Roller Blades are bound to get equally popular and in demand.
The new boot is said to be unique. IDEA is getting popular owing to its ability ‘to grow with children’. It can accommodate their changing needs. A video of the product can be found on video-sharing website, YouTube. The new ski boot for children accounts for their growing feet - from toddler age to their adolescence.
It is adjustable in three steps: 1. open buckle; 2. choose size, and 3. close lever. Some simple adjustments can cause length, width as well as cuff height to change and ensure comfort for young skiers.
With a few minor modifications, children can be ready quickly and in a pair of boots that are safe. It offers economic practicality since it can be used for years, meaning money is saved since there is no need to have new boots every year.

Music lovers and roller skaters are being invited to go out on their roller skates or roller blades and take part in raising money for a good cause.
Today, a roller disco is being held at The Regal in Cowley Road, East Oxford. All the proceeds from the roller skating event will go to the charity for John Watson Special School and a children’s hospice Helen and Douglas house in Wheatley.
The event is the idea of popular East Oxford DJ Tony Nanton. Mr. Nanton, said that it was an opportunity to get people out who keep telling him that nothing exciting ever happens in Oxford and that Oxford was boring.
Someone suggested Mr. Nanton to have a roller skating disco in The Regal and he immediately took up the challenge.
A key concern during the roller skating disco will be safety. The organisers want to ensure that no one consumes too much alcohol during the roller skating disco event. Everyone at the roller skating disco would be provided with a few poker chips at the beginning of the event. The idea is to control drinking, to prevent any accidents, so that people can enjoy roller skating and the music.
Tickets for the roller skating disco will cost £12.50 if you want to hire roller skates, £10 if you bring along your own skates and £8 if you want to just watch the event.

In the beginning it was the quad and then came inline. The rest, as we all know is history.
Contrary to what many people believe, roller skating does not refer only to the roller skates or quad. Roller skating refers to quad skates as well as inline skates. Quad skates or roller skates were first manufactured in the 17th century. They were a favourite pastime for many. However, manoeuvring the roller skates was not very easy and hence roller skating began to fade away slowly.
In late 1980’s, the Rollerblade company introduced a new type of roller skates to the people.
The company was the first one to commercially produce inline skates. It was a high boot single line skate and hence known as inline skates.
Inline skates are made up of the boot, an outer shell, the inner shell or shoe, frame, wheel bearings and other accessories for safety. Inline skates have a more aggressive look than the quad skates. With inline skates, you can do four different types of inline skating i.e. free skating, aggressive inline, competitive skating and speed skating.
There is only a slight difference in all the four different types of inline skating. However, all of them require practice and discipline. It is always advisable to wear all the necessary safety gear while doing any type of inline skating and learn from a professional inline skating coach.

Rollerblading is a good choice for all skaters, especially during the off or non-peak seasons.
There are many skaters who incorporate roller skates in their training for speed skating. Inline skates during off season are recommended for short as well as long track ice skaters. Inline skates help to build respiratory and cardio stamina required for long-distance racing.
On the other hand, rollerblading skaters tend to slow down because they strive for perfectionism in terms of technique. Usually, speed skates are lighter than inline skates. Therefore, the skaters who roller blade and then race on the ice feel more powerful and light with their speed skates.
Here are some tips from which you can avoid injuries while you are on roller blades:
•   You should wear the complete roller blades protective gear
•   Protective cover should include elbow pads, kneepads and wrist guards
•   Before you go on the road you should learn the rollerblading basics
•   You should have self control and also control over your speed

Rollerblading seems to be a good choice for many skaters, especially during the off season. Roller blades are a great tool for speed skaters but not that helpful or useful for figure skaters.
Of late, there are many skaters who have started incorporating roller skating as a part of their training for speed skating. Inline skating takes place in the off season and provides an excellent experience for long and short track ice racers.
It is necessary for speed skaters to combine stretching, cardio training and weight training in their training schedule. This sort of training includes plyometrics, roller blading and bicycling. Keep in mind not to train with weights around your ankles as it may cause knee problems.
Off - ice skating even helps the ice skaters in maintaining their physical fitness during the summer season. This is very much beneficial for speed skaters. Off- ice skating provides more of resistance whereas inline speed staking helps in building respiratory and cardio endurance for long distance. It happens due to the requirement of a lot of energy in inline skating for sustaining speed.
In rollerblading, skaters have the chance to slow down and thus can concentrate more on perfecting their techniques. The speed skates are lighter than the inline skates.

Skating is a great sport, suitable for all ages and weather conditions. Skating with roller blades is particularly a good choice during the off season for all diehard skaters.
Roller blades are a particular favourite for speed skaters. If you are looking to lose weight and also have a lot of fun in the process, rollerblade skating is a great option. You can burn a lot of calories in a roller blade session for just half an hour, three to four times a week. Roller blades skating provides a perfect workout for your legs, arms, and back. The muscles get firm and toned up.
While you are speed skating with roller blades, it is important to combine weight training, cardio training and stretching as a part of your exercise regime. The training also includes bicycling and polymetrics.
As a measure of safety, when you are learning roller blading, avoid hilly and uneven areas. When you go down hills you gain velocity, which makes it quite difficult to stop and control owing to the law of inertia.
With roller blades, skaters are able greater perfect their techniques. The roller blades are very light compared to inline skates. Quality roller blades are more comfortable and provide much better ankle support.
