Have you tried rollerblading?

Rollerblading seems to be a good choice for many skaters, especially during the off season. Roller blades are a great tool for speed skaters but not that helpful or useful for figure skaters.
Of late, there are many skaters who have started incorporating roller skating as a part of their training for speed skating. Inline skating takes place in the off season and provides an excellent experience for long and short track ice racers.
It is necessary for speed skaters to combine stretching, cardio training and weight training in their training schedule. This sort of training includes plyometrics, roller blading and bicycling. Keep in mind not to train with weights around your ankles as it may cause knee problems.
Off - ice skating even helps the ice skaters in maintaining their physical fitness during the summer season. This is very much beneficial for speed skaters. Off- ice skating provides more of resistance whereas inline speed staking helps in building respiratory and cardio endurance for long distance. It happens due to the requirement of a lot of energy in inline skating for sustaining speed.
In rollerblading, skaters have the chance to slow down and thus can concentrate more on perfecting their techniques. The speed skates are lighter than the inline skates.
