Ice skating has always been popular and it is often associated with the Christmas spirit where people get an opportunity to gather and socialise and soak in the festive mood.

People are eagerly waiting and the Ice World Skating Club is adamant to not disappoint them when they start their 2008-2009 session in November. With family sessions and disco sessions on Thursday and Friday respectively at Suttieside Road, Forfar, the organisers are expecting a great response.

According to Club President Ally Millar it is because of the enthusiastic volunteers that the club has tasted success on many occasions.

The ‘Learn to Skate’ program that was introduced was directly responsible for the new members that have entered the club and with the ‘Family Hour’ on Thursday, various new entrants and families can engage in socialising.

Raw talent is encouraged and also coached well, for there are two S.I.H.A coaches on hand. The 30 minute session costs just £6.

This season, however, there will only be the ‘Learn to Skate’ sessions on offer.

To see the Suttieside Road rink as a talent pool for young enthusiasts and to promote more of ice sports, is what the Ice World Skating Club wants.
